Walmart Marketplace introduced seven downloadable Pricing recommendation reports on October 28, 2026. For a brand managing a broad catalog, the value is a more systematic way to spot which items warrant review. A recommendation is a prompt to investigate, not an instruction to lower price.
What Walmart released
The new reports cover pricing issues that may affect listing visibility, stale inventory, Buy Box opportunities, price competitiveness, repricer opportunities, repricer minimum-price settings and potential reduced referral fee opportunities. Walmart says they contain item-level information tied to Pricing Insights recommendations. The reports are personalized, so not every seller will have items in every report.
Walmart's developer documentation describes an on-request API workflow: request a report, check its status, and download it when ready. Brands should have their marketplace or integration owner confirm availability and access for their own account.
Turn reports into decisions
We would triage visibility issues first, then items with meaningful sales or inventory exposure. For each candidate, compare current price, contribution margin, stock position, ads, and the brand's channel pricing strategy. A stale-inventory flag may justify a promotion, but only if the resulting unit economics and replenishment plan make sense.
Reduced referral fee opportunities deserve a separate calculation. Walmart's price-incentives documentation says eligible reduced-fee offers require enrollment and a target price; moving above that threshold can restore the standard referral fee. It also says an incentive's expiration does not automatically return the item to its original price. Verify the current terms in your account before changing a live price.
A weekly review loop
- Download the reports relevant to the catalog and retain the report date.
- Group flagged SKUs by issue type and business impact.
- Calculate margin and inventory consequences before accepting a price recommendation.
- Approve changes with an owner, record the reason, then monitor listing status and contribution.
