Walmart Brand Portal’s New Agency Roles: Review Who Can Act for Your Brand

Walmart Marketplace said on November 6, 2026 that Rights Owners can authorize an entire Brand Protection Service Provider organization in Brand Portal instead of inviting its users individually. Authorized provider users can work across assigned brands with one login, and new provider roles offer different permissions. For a brand that uses an agency to monitor infringement, the immediate task is to decide who should be authorized and what work they may perform.

What changed

Walmart's release note describes organization-level authorization and tailored provider roles. It does not say that any agency automatically gains access. A Rights Owner still has to authorize the provider. The change is about Brand Portal access for brand protection work, not a blanket transfer of brand ownership or Seller Center permissions.

Keep ownership and work responsibilities clear

Before authorizing an organization, list the brands it should cover, the claims it may submit, and who on the brand side reviews disputed or high-impact actions. Ask the provider to identify its access owner and the process for removing staff who leave its team. Assign only the permissions needed for the agreed work, then review access after the first month and whenever the relationship changes.

These are Etail Rocket operating recommendations, not requirements stated in Walmart's short release note. Walmart's detailed Brand Portal guidance should be checked in the account when assigning specific roles because access options and eligibility can change.

A practical access check

  1. Confirm the brand's Rights Owner and current Brand Portal administrators.
  2. Inventory existing individual agency users before adding an organization.
  3. Agree on brands, role scope, claim approval and escalation with the provider.
  4. Verify the resulting access in Brand Portal, then schedule a periodic review.

For a broader marketplace brand governance review, request a Walmart audit.
